A Long History in the Waste Industry

Otto Environmental Systems North America, Inc. traces its roots back to 1934, when the original company was founded in Kreuztal, Germany. It entered the waste management industry in 1950. With its introduction of injection molded containers to the market in 1965, Otto Environmental Systems pioneered the 2-wheel trash cart that is now in use today. Otto Environmental Systems has become the largest manufacturer of plastic waste containers in the world, with over 90 million carts currently servicing communities around the globe.

Otto Environmental Systems North America, Inc. (OESNA) is a subsidiary of Otto Industries North America, Inc. First entering the U.S. market in 1983 by importing Otto Environmental Systems North America, Inc. containers from its plants in Europe and other international manufacturing facilities, the company opened its first domestic plant in Charlotte, North Carolina in the late 1980's. Otto Environmental Systems North America, Inc. opened its second manufacturing plant in Eloy, Arizona in 2002.

In addition to offering waste collection products, OESNA also has services for the waste industry. Otto Container Management, LLC, offers services to manage residential cart fleets for municipalities and trash haulers. The cart management services encompass activities like cart welding, assembly and distribution for cart roll-out projects, used cart reclaim and disposal, and yard/inventory clean-up services.
